The Talented and the Geniuses

Tom Plate's book "Confessions of an American Media Man" is highly enjoyable, probably all the more so by media students, past included.

He has this to say about geniuses:
"... The probability is that in six months, you would be suicidal about having hired this so-called genius. ... in real life, there are very few geniuses. ... What you probably would be stuck with is someone who is not a genius and someone who makes you miserable to be around. Talented and great to hang out/work with, the John Walshes of the world were extremely rare."
