Get into the Mood of the City

Tom Plate (in "Confessions of an American Media Man") wrote of how his former boss, Clay Felker, of the New York magazine (now professor in the journalism school in Berkeley), told him to get out from his desk :

"You've got to get out of the office, Tom. I don't want my editors sitting at their desks over lunch having a conversation with their tuna fish sandwich. I want them to get out, meet people, get into the mood of the city ... GET OUT THERE!"

~~~
Yes, don't we need to, ie need to get out there!
We can't be preaching or prescribing in an ivory tower or in a sterile vacuum, out of touch with the ground.
